What affects the price of a video production?

The price of a video can vary from DKK 12,000 to well over DKK 120,000, and the difference rarely comes from one place. It is the sum of a series of choices about scope, quality and post-production that decides where your project lands. Below we go through the factors that weigh heaviest, so you know where you can turn things up and down. If you want to see what it means for your own project, the price calculator takes you through it in two minutes.

Number of shooting days and the size of the crew

The single factor that affects the price most is time on set. More shooting days and a larger crew (camera, sound, lighting, director) cost more, but also give more and better material to work with. If the project can be done in one efficient shooting day, that keeps the budget down.

Level of ambition for visual quality

Top-class lighting, camera and sound require more equipment and more set-up time. The higher the production value you want, the more hours and gear it takes, and that is reflected in the price.

Pre-production: concept and script

A strong concept and a well developed script are the foundation of a video that works. The more strategy and development that goes into pre-production, the more preparation, but also a markedly stronger result.

Post-production: editing, colour, graphics and animation

Editing is often what separates a good video from an excellent one. Colour correction, sound design, text cards, motion design and full animation all add hours in post-production, and animation is typically the most expensive component per second.

Versioning for several formats

If the video has to be delivered in several lengths and formats, for example 16:9 for the web, 9:16 for Reels and 1:1 for the feed, that increases the editing work. In return you get more out of the same shoot.

Distribution and the number of finished films

If several finished films have to be delivered from the same shoot, or the video will be used in paid advertising over a longer period, that affects both the scope and the total price.

Deadline and speed

An ordinary schedule is the cheapest. If you have a very short deadline that requires extra resources or weekend work, that can affect the price.

Yes, typically. Animation is priced by how many seconds have to be designed and animated, and it is often more expensive per second than live action. In return, animated content lasts well and is easy to update.
