Colors aren’t just pretty to look at – they shape emotions, moods and decisions. So when you create video for your business, color choice isn’t just an aesthetic decision – it’s a strategic tool.

But how does it actually work? And what colors should you choose for your next video? Here’s the answer.

Colors communicate – faster than words

Colors send signals before the viewer has time to think. Red can seem energetic or warning, blue creates confidence and calm, while yellow captures attention and creates warmth.

Here’s a quick overview:

ColorSignals and emotions
Red colorEnergy, action, strength, danger
BlueTrust, calm, professionalism
GulAttention, optimism, warmth
GreenNature, growth, sustainability
VarietyExclusivity, elegance, authority
WhitePurity, simplicity, honesty

Your brain reacts – without you knowing it

Colors affect the emotional center of the brain before we can think rationally. That’s why color in videos (especially in combination with sound and pacing) has such a big impact on how your brand is perceived.

Example: A recruitment video in warm, human colors creates a sense of security. A product video in dark shades and contrasting lighting signals technology and performance.

How to choose the right colors

  1. Know your brand. What values should be displayed?
  2. Know your audience. Who are you talking to – and what do you want them to feel?
  3. Be consistent. Use colors that match the rest of your visual identity.
  4. Consider platform. Colors work differently on screen, mobile and social media.

Want us to help you get the colors and style right?

At Filmbudget, we create videos where visual identity, tone and colors work together – so your target audience both sees and feels your message.

Get a quick budget – and let us create video that hits both the eye and the heart.

We develop creative concepts, produce films and content, and help companies tell their stories in a way that creates impact.

The price depends on format, ambition level and scope. We have created price examples on Filmbudget.dk so you can easily get an idea of where your project will end up.

We offer both – everything from brand and campaign films to social media content, explainers, employer branding and event coverage. We find the format that best suits your story.

It depends on the format, ambition level and production. A typical production takes between 2-8 weeks from concept to finished product.

We are based in our studio in Svendborg, but work with customers throughout Denmark and internationally. We are happy to travel when it makes sense.
